What We Can Offer You


HCC Front Office The Health Careers Center offers valuable resources for all University of Minnesota students interested in or considering a health career. Some of the resources that will be available to you as a student include:

Information sessions, workshops, & fairs
Start by attending an information session, workshop and fair. Obtain valuable information regarding health careers and maybe even answer questions you may not have even known you had! Session topics vary include but are not limited to: Preparing for Medical School, Writing Your Personal Statement, Interviewing for Health Professional School and Gaining Experience for a Health Profession.

Take a one-credit career exploration course
Earn a credit while you exploring the health careers. Identify critical career questions, take career inventories, set goals and create a timeline for your health career plan. It is a fun and easy way to earn one college credit! View courses offered here.

Participate in a class for pre-med freshmen
The AHS 1601/1602 course sequence helps you prepare for medical school. In the The Future Physician course, you’ll explore the important issues and trends that are determining the future of medicine. In Experiences in Health, you’ll get the opportunity to participate in a volunteer project in a health area of your choice. Find experiential learning opportunities
Looking for a volunteer work, an internship or research opportunity? Each February, attend the annual Step Into Health Careers: Volunteer, Internship & Research Fair which features community organizations, non-profits, hospitals, clinics, companies and government agencies. These organizations have volunteer, internship, or research opportunities and have come to campus to meet with you! Get connected and gain experience starting now.
